Despite advances in medical therapy for patients with heart failure and reduced ejection fraction, mortality and hospitalizations with advanced disease are still increased and the quality of life continues to be poor in this population. The advent of cardiac resynchronization therapy has led to a significant improvement in both survival and symptom management in patients with heart failure and reduced ejection fraction. Its beneficial effects in the elderly population, however, are not well-defined.
